Four Magical Sentences and Four Simple Steps to Miracles

I just kept saying, “I am sorry,” “please forgive me,” “thank you,” and “I love you,” over and over again. Loving yourself is the greatest way to improve yourself, and as you improve yourself, you improve your world.

— Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len

You may have heard of the intriguing story of Dr. Len, who mended an entire ward of mentally insane criminals without ever physically seeing them. All he did was repeat the four magical sentences in Ho’oponopono therapy: I am sorry, please forgive me, thank you, and I love you.

Ho’oponopono says that the physical universe is a projection of our inner mind. Everything you see, everything you hear, and every person you meet you experience in your mind. You are responsible for what you experience, including the wrongs and evilness that are supposed to be others’. Therefore, if you want to correct these wrongs, you need to clean your mind through four steps: repentance, forgiveness, gratitude, and love. The concept may be hard to grasp at first, but in the end, you will see its truth.

Repentance: I am Sorry.

When you realize you are responsible for the things “out there,” you are natural to feel sorry. Do you not feel remorse when you hear about a terrible disaster, even if it is on the other side of the earth? I am sorry for whatever misfortune that has befallen someone. This realization can be painful, and you will likely resist accepting responsibility for the seemingly other’s problems. However, you can start by saying sorry to yourself, something as small as catching a cold, and you will see results.

Forgiveness: Please Forgive Me

When you feel ashamed of your wrongdoings, usually, you will ask for forgiveness. It does not matter from whom you ask for forgiveness. The point is to say it, whether out loud or in your mind. Repeat it over and over again with a sincere heart. Say it as you mean to fix the problem. Then you may be able to make a change.

Gratitude: Thank You

Again, it does not matter to whom or what you express your gratitude. Just say it. You can thank your body for all it does for you or yourself for having done so many things. Thank your parents for giving your life. Thank the universe for being so astonishing. Thank everything you can think of, and fill your heart with the deepest gratitude.

Love: I Love You.

Now you know the drill. Say “I love you.” Say it to yourself, God, the sky, the air, the sun, the house you reside in. Say it over and over. Mean it. Feel it. There is nothing as powerful as love.

And those were the four simple steps to miracles and their mantra.

The significance of this four-sentence mantra is to reset your subconsciousness. It can constantly clean up the inner part you created by the bad outer ones. You must first change your internal before changing external things because the external is created by your internal mind. And that is how you take full responsibility for everything that happens in your life.

Remember the four steps and four sentences. Remember it deeply, and repeat it often.

I am sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.
